stop moaning you wuss....
...well after last week's doom-laden piece it didn't take much to wipe that stupid smile back on my face (and music back into my heart).
Pen opened this months fRoots (UK's main folk/world music magazine), and gave a great shout - there on page 64 was a picture I'd taken, advertising PJ Wright and Dave Pegg's upcoming tour and latest album "Galileo's Apology". I knew that they were going to use the picture on the CD cover somewhere - but it is the whole back cover - and I didn't know they were going to use it for their promo stuff.
And the cherry on the top - today arrived a lovely little package containing copies of PJ & Dave's CD, PJ's solo CD, some promo material and a warm and thoughtful note from PJ. Just before xmas they put us on the guest list for a Dylan Project gig (they both play in Dylan Project, and Dave P plays in Fairport Convention and Jethro Tull; PJ plays in Little Johnny England), and we are to be their guests when they play in Leek in May.
I've also just heard that Pen and I are to be official photographers again at Middlewich Folk & Boat Festival in June - I think I'll pluck up courage and write to the organisers of Shrewsbury Folk Fest and ask if we can be official photographers there as well.
I'm just listening to the CDs now - and they are both excellent - highlights include PJ's "Lily of Barbary", his muscular and sensitive guitar playing, Dave and PJ's version of Sandy Denny's "Bushes and Briars" (distinctly better than Denny's own rather sugary version) and a cracking acoustic version of the The Chantay's '63 guitar classic "Pipeline".
My hands are feeling pretty good today, and no-one is in, so I think I'll go and crank up my Strat...
