Up to 800,000 "gypsies"/Roma were murdered by the Nazis — over a half of their European population at the time. i didn't realise that it was holocaust memorial day, but now that i do i think its right to have such days to take stock, look back and remember just what people must have gone through.

we never learn though so it's so important to have a day to remind us - those of us who care can spread the word and try to get political commitment to stop current and prevent future atrocities..... Amnesty International is a good place to start to find out about murderous regimes and support victims.
