light in your house was a spare 60 watt lightbulb and perhaps, if you could find them when there was a power-cut, a box of Prices' candles.
If you were really fancy you might have a choice of clear or pearl light-bulbs.

If you were really fancy you might have a choice of clear or pearl light-bulbs.
Now you need -
- the ones that go in the picture lights - 12v, 5w, with two little pins sticking out of the bottom
 - the big halogen thingy in the uplighter
 - the little energy-savers with a small screw for the bookcase lights
 - low wattage, large screw energy-savers in the standard lamps
 - the one in the cooker - only 14w and lasts about 3 weeks - hasn't worked for some months 'cos I can't remember where to get them from
 - the one in the microwave - no idea how to change that one if it goes
 - the ones in the cooker hood - which are dim-ish and have a small bayonet
 - the bright-ish long/narrow energy-savers that light the kitchen work-surfaces
 - the low wattage, bayonet fitting, tungsten ones in the wall lights - about to be replaced by equivalent energy savers
 - the 16w energy savers in the hall and landing
 - the posh globey thing that goes over the dining table
 - 20w incandescent, small screw spotlights
 - 40w incandescent, small screw spotlights
 - 20w incandescent, small bayonet spotlight
 - the tiny halogen spotlights (that must not be touched by human hand) with a funny base that fit in the fancy bathroom light fitting
 - the very bright energy saver that goes in the porch light
 - the halogen tube that fits the security light
 - the soft-light, small screw, low wattage energy-savers for the fancy floor light
 - the special bulbs we bought that are meant to stave off Seasonal Affective Disorder - which are so blue they make you eyes go funny, and that we never use
 - the tiddley ones that go in the garland lights
 - dichroic 12v, 10w spots that fit the clip on spot light
 - the special warm light that fits in Penny's "wake you up gently with simulated sunrise" alarm clock, that leaves Penny sleeping like a baby
 - the ones that go in the exterior Xmas lights
 - the coloured ones for the interior Xmas lights
 - the funny fluted ones that screw into the Advent welcome light
 - the 12w car sidelight ones that fit the lights in the garden

I blame IKEA....

So do I! And not just about the light bulb mare.
Nice blog tone.
you missed the garden lights...and that ridiculous list doesn't include the ones in the campervan (even more obscure!)
